Northern Dalmatia

Northern Dalmatia - Biograd & Zadar

Northern Dalmatia, between Zadar and Primosten, is one of the most popular areas of Croatia for sailors. The main attraction is the Kornati archipelago, which has been a nature reserve since 1980 as the “Kornati National Park”. The over 150 larger and smaller, hardly inhabited and hardly overgrown islands and reefs fascinate with their barren, desert-like lunar landscape. For many, the stony wasteland appears almost mystical and creates a kind of deep relaxation. The water of the Kornati Islands is deep blue to turquoise, crystal clear and extremely rich in fish. There are countless gorgeous bays – some with small romantic pubs, the so-called Konobas, which are privately run by local fishermen or farmers. All this – combined with a lot of rest and relaxation even in the main season – make the Kornati islands a paradise for sailors, snorkelers and nature lovers.

Biograd

On the north Dalmatian coast, between Zadar and Vodice, lies Biograd na Moru – the “white city by the sea”. The Croatian kings were once crowned in Biograd. Biograd was also a bishopric. Biograd is only 30 km from Zadar. The core of the old town is on a peninsula. A fascinating, small place with a great past.
During the day, life takes place primarily on the beach and harbor promenade of Biograd, in the evening hours on the waterfront on the edge of the old town. Numerous restaurants, taverns and taverns invite you to enjoy the specialties of Dalmatian cuisine. During the summer months, concerts by well-known artists and folklore groups as well as exhibitions under the name “Biograd Cultural Summer” take place in Biograd.
The two large marinas of Biograd, Kornati and Sangulin, are right next to each other in the north of the peninsula. They are popular starting points for sailors and sailing trips to the Kornati island labyrinth. Many regattas start from Biograd every year. The only Croatian boat & sailing show takes place annually in autumn in Biograd.

The marina in Biograd is divided into two – the Marina Kornati and the Marina Sangulin, which together have 15 quays with space for around 750 yachts on water and around 70 on land. All technical service and comfort facilities are available and the lively seaside resort is worth seeing.

Zadar

Zadar is the gateway to the Dalmatia region and offers the perfect combination of sightseeing and culture, beach and leisure. The almost 80,000-inhabitant and 3000-year-old capital of North Dalmatia, which is mainly influenced by Venetian and Roman influences, is the economic and cultural center of the region. Zadar is located on a narrow promontory on the Adriatic Sea and the Zadar Canal and is separated from the mainland by a moat. Until 1873, Zadar was a fortress. The Adriatic sea resort is often compared to Venice. The majority of the old town is actually Venetian style. The historic old town has been completely restored and offers many sights such as the city wall or the Grimani bastion.
Zadar is an ideal starting point for yacht charter. Getting there is quick and easy – Zadar is well connected by Europastrasse 65 and Autobahn 1. The archipelago of Zadar with the islands of Ugljan, Pasman, Dugi Otok, Iz and the National Park of the Kornati Islands with its approximately 150 islands make Zadar ideal for a sailing trip.

Marina Zadar, well protected from the wind, is located right in the center of Zadar. There are 300 berths in the water, 200 on land. All berths are equipped with electricity and water connections. In addition to the standard services, Moto Marina Service is available to guests for any repairs and spare parts. The Marina Zadar was awarded the “Blue Flag”.
